This information is for students who have received notification from the IB Department that their GRAC application has been approved. Once a GRAC application has been approved, be sure to save all your materials for the reimbursement process. For travel, you cannot be reimbursed for any travel-related purchases until after the event is over. For research supplies, you can either set it up as a purchase in BearBuy (group all associated items for purchase into one cart, assign the cart to Monica Albe for approval), or purchase the items yourself and submit for reimbursement.
For all GRAC reimbursements, please:
- Fill out this GRAC Reimbursement Form [PDF].
- Fill out the appropriate campus reimbursement form:
- Have any associated receipts
- Have your original GRAC application that had been approved by the department
Once you have all materials gathered, bring them to an appointment with Monica to submit everything into the system for reimbursement. Have Monica provide a tracking code to you once the submission has been made, so you can check to make sure it went through. Reimbursements usually take 1-2 weeks to process in the system -- if you don't get your money by then, check in with Monica.
Hansen Memorial Research Funds
The Hansen Memorial Research Fund (HMRF) provides financial support to Integrative Biology graduate students, attending scientific meetings related to their doctoral research. Students may apply for up to $400 in support to cover registration, travel, and accommodation. Applications should include a brief description of how attending the meeting will contribute to their research and be sent to the IB Graduate Student Services Advisor.
IB 299 Funds
These funds are made available to each laboratory. A certain amount is given for each graduate student and it is used with the approval of the professor in charge of the lab. For more information, see guidelines for use of 299 funds.
In early spring semester, the department will award supplemental stipends to all eligible students with total 10-month stipends of less than $26,000. Amount of stipend is contingent on fund availability and the number of students.
Summer Research Grants
The department will award, funding permitting, summer research awards to graduate students who are in good academic standing, and have a current annual review on file. These funds are competitive and based on proposals submitted. See award forms for award details and eligibility. (In response to IB graduate student requests, and thanks to some changes in Grad Div, we have been able to combine two of our applications and open the summer research award to all enrolled IB graduate students.)
